Brendan Rodgers left Wesley Fofana out of Leicester City’s squad for his side’s  2-1 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday as the defender is close to joining the west London club.

The Foxes will reportedly earn €80m from the Frenchman’s sale and his exit will see them look to bring in a replacement before the window closes on Thursday.

After Atalanta’s Merih Demiral was identified as the target for Leicester, another name has now been added to the list.

La Repubblica explain that in the ‘last few hours’, the Premier League side have been thinking about Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji. He is also on Inter Milan’s radar.

The Switzerland international’s contract expires in 2023. In the event he refuses to sign a new deal with the Bundesliga side and his move to Leicester or another club were to not materialise, then Inter will try to take him on a free transfer next summer.

Calciomercato also state the Premier League club have joined the Nerazzurri in the chase for the centre-back.

It’s said Leicester are ‘thinking of Akanji’ and ‘investing on the player’, while Inter would not take this step because they are looking to take him on a loan deal.
