Leicester City’s chase for the Sporting youngster Gonzalo Plata is once again mentioned by the Portuguese media today.

Newspaper O Jogo actually brings two stories about the winger. The first one is about the Lions’ plans to acquire 100% of the player before selling him.

Plata’s former club Independiente del Valle still hold 50% of his rights. Sporting only paid €1m to get 50% last year, and given the player’s development in Portugal, the Ecuadorian side are not selling the other half for the same price.

Independiente want to wait and see if any incoming offers for Plata would give them a bigger profit, while Sporting try to work quick and buy the 50% before the offers arrive.

Regarding Leicester City, O Jogo writes that there are a few Premier League sides who are interested in the player, with the Foxes ‘heading’ this list.

The fact that Plata has recently changed agents is seen as helpful for a transfer, but there’s no news on how the talks for the sale have been going so far.

Plata has only recently found a place in Sporting’s starting team. He has two goals and one assist in 14 appearances for the Lisbon side.
