Leicester City are one of the clubs in the race for Gil Vicente defender Gabriel Pereira, according to claims from Portugal.
Newspaper O Jogo today features a long piece about the chase for the centre-back, and the reason for it is that FC Porto are also interested in his signing.
The Dragons, who just removed David Carmo from the squad, are in big need of reinforcing their defence and Gabriel is said to be on their agenda.
O Jogo then mention that even though Porto are in a ‘good position’ for the signing, there’s competition from Leicester City, Real Betis and CSKA Moscow.
That’s all the newspaper has to say for now, without making it clear whether any of those clubs placed a bid for the signing yet, and only making it clear that Porto have an advantage.
Gabriel joined Gil Vicente in January this year in a €650k move, and is now valued by Transfermarkt at €1.5m.
That’s a signing Leicester City would definitely have the resources to make, although we better wait and see how their interest will develop.
