Leicester City are reportedly on the verge of signing Caleb Okoli from Atalanta.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the clubs are ‘closing negotiations’ for the 22-year-old’s move to the Foxes.
It’s said Leicester City will be paying €15m for Okoli, with bonuses included.
The defender, who’s a product of Atalanta’s youth ranks, always seemed to be out of the club’s plans for the coming season, as he’s just returned from a loan at Frosinone.
During the Serie A campaign which had them relegated, Okoli made 34 appearances, plus three more in the cup, and actually managed to have a very consistent season there.
Di Marzio is usually on the money when it comes to Italian transfers, so it shouldn’t take long until there are other reports confirming the deal and showing the player flying to England.
Okoli is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €8m, so it should be interesting to see how much Leicester City will be paying up front and how much will depend on his performances with the Foxes in the coming years.
