Serie A side Cagliari are closing in on Leicester City midfielder Gokhan Inler, according to claims in the Italian media. The Swiss international look surplus to requirements with the Premier League champions, and is expected to leave before the transfer window as long as the deal is good for Leicester City.
TMW have reported in the last hour that Leicester City will make a decision tonight to whether they will accept the proposal from Cagliari. The Sardinian side recently returned to Serie A after gaining promotion last season, and are looking to consolidate their place in the top flight by strengthen their squad before the deadline.
Cagliari want to take Inler on loan for the season, and are willing to pay 40% of the midfielder current salary which equates to around €800k a season. If Leicester City don’t accept the loan offer, then Cagliari will turn their attentions to Napoli’s Mirko Valdifiori.
Inler joined Leicester City last summer from Napoli, but hardly figured last season because of the midfield partnership of Danny Drinkwater and N’Golo Kanté. His lack of playing time cost the player his place in the Swiss team, and he knows need to start getting regular games in order win his place back.
