Corinthians have secured another legal victory over Wolves manager Vítor Pereira, according to Brazilian outlet Gazeta Esportiva.
Pereira managed Corinthians throughout 2022, overseeing 64 games with 26 wins, 21 draws and 17 defeats. He led the club to a Copa do Brasil runners-up spot before moving to Flamengo in 2023.
The Labour Court in Brazil upheld last year’s ruling to extinguish the case filed by the Portuguese coach, who was demanding around R$7.5m (£1.1m) in labour-related payments including FGTS (a Brazilian severance fund), holiday pay and bonuses.
The court reinforced that such disputes should be resolved through FIFA and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), as stipulated in Pereira’s contract.
The Wolves manager appealed the previous decision, but the tribunal confirmed the dismissal “without resolution of merit”, removing the issue from the club’s liabilities.
Pereira’s assistant, Antonio Alexandre Moreira, also filed a claim against Corinthians for approximately R$514,000 (£75,000), alleging unpaid rights. However, the Labour Court again ruled in favour of the Brazilian club.
The 56-year-old coach had already taken the case to FIFA, which ordered Corinthians to pay him R$2.6m (£380,000), far below the original amount sought in the Brazilian courts.
This latest decision means the Wolves manager continues dealing with defeats, only this time in the courtroom and not on the pitch.
