Bournemouth will keep a close eye in Luis Sinisterra he suffered another injury setback for Cruzeiro on Sunday night. The winger returned to the starting line-up but left the pitch in the first half with pain in his left thigh, raising fresh doubts over his availability.
Sinisterra started the decisive Copa do Brasil semi-final second leg against Corinthians at the Neo Química Arena. However, his involvement ended after only 30 minutes. The Colombian felt discomfort after a challenge and struggled to continue.
He tried to run it off. Moments later, he fell to the ground and asked for medical attention. Keny Arroyo replaced him shortly after.
Semi-final exit adds to frustration
The timing proved costly for Cruzeiro. Sinisterra’s side won the match 2-1 on the night (Arroyo scored both goals), overturning the 1-0 defeat from the first leg. That result levelled the aggregate score.
However, Corinthians prevailed on penalties. Cruzeiro exited the competition at the semi-final stage despite the victory away from home.
Central da Toca highlight that this was Sinisterra’s third muscular issue since his arrival in Belo Horizonte. He joined Cruzeiro on loan from Bournemouth with an option to buy. Even so, he has not managed to establish a consistent run as a starter.
Recent weeks had brought optimism. He had featured regularly and regained rhythm. Talk of a longer-term plan had also emerged in Brazil.
Managerial change alters the picture
That scenario now changes. Shortly after the elimination, Leonardo Jardim resigned from his position. He will not remain as Cruzeiro’s head coach for the 2026 season.
Jardim had publicly backed Sinisterra and framed the winger as a long-term rehabilitation project. He repeatedly spoke about preparing the player for a higher level next year. His departure introduces uncertainty around squad planning and future decisions.
Bournemouth face familiar questions
From Bournemouth’s point of view, the pattern remains familiar. Sinisterra’s quality is clear. His fitness continues to shape his trajectory.
Another injury interrupts his momentum. At the same time, a managerial change in Brazil adds complexity to the situation. The severity of the problem remains unknown, but the long-term outcome of the loan now looks less straightforward than it did only weeks ago.
