While a lot has been made on the transfer rumour mill about the possible exits from Leeds United’s first-team, there are also players in the youth teams being looked at.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who explain that Salernitana, wanting to bolster their squad for another season in Serie A, have turned their attention to a young defender at Elland Road.
The player in question is Leo Fuhr Hjelde, who already boasts five appearances for Leeds at first-team level, but has mostly spent time with the U21s.
The 19-year-old has caught the eye of the Italian club, and while no fee is mentioned by the newspaper, they do say he ‘tickles’ their interest.
That’s all they really have to say about it for now, but it’s something worth keeping an eye on, all depending on what the next Leeds manager’s plans are once he is appointed.
He could turn his attention to youth and therefore give Hjelde more of a chance, or simply focus on getting the most out of experienced players to get the Elland Road side back to the Premier League without taking any risks.
