There has been speculation in the British media in recent days that Garry Monk could be shown the door at Leeds United after a poor start to the season. The Championship side have won just one league game all season, and the sack claims are now filtering into the Italian media.
Sardinia newspaper Isola24sport have reported on the rumours that Monk could be sacked by Massimo Cellino if Leeds United fail to beat Blackburn Rovers tonight. Leeds United lost to Huddersfield Town at the weekend at Elland Road, which means they are now 21st in the league table.
Unhappy about the performances and results on the pitch Cellino is reportedly running out of patience with Monk, and could look to replace him after just six league games.
Cellino had a reputation in Italy of going through managers, and was nicknamed ‘the manager eater’ in the Italian media. Since coming to England he’s continued this trend by employing a number of managers, with Monk being his latest.
The Italian media, and especially those who know Cellino best in Sardinia, will expect he’s currently sharpening his managerial axe.
