Leeds United defender Giuseppe Bellusci’s proposed move to Serie A side Empoli has hit complications, according to claims in Italy. The 26-year-old could return to his home country this summer after coming in for criticism for his performances at the back end of last season.
TMW have claimed Bellusci’s transfer to Empoli has stalled despite reports the Tuscan side were in pole position to sign the Leeds United star on loan for next season.
Empoli are looking to strengthen their squad for next season, and wanted to bring in Bellusci due to their star defender Lorenzo Tonelli recently joining Napoli. Empoli consolidated their place in Serie A last season, and want to push on in the next campaign.
Despite Empoli’s issues getting a deal done for Bellusci, the Leeds United star could still arrive in Italy during the transfer window with Ascoli, Pisa and Tornio showing an interest in the player.
Empoli are however expected to get deals done for Juventus pair Andrés Tello and Matheus Pereira.
