Junior Firpo is set to leave Leeds United when his contract expires on June 30th.

On Thursday, claims from Spain stated the left-back’s return to Real Betis is advanced and only his signature is missing to make the transfer official.

Junior isn’t the only Leeds player the La Liga club want to sign this summer as they are also looking at Mateo Joseph.

Three days ago, ABC Sevilla stated the Andalusian club have opened talks for the striker. On Thursday, Diario de Sevilla stated they are working to sign him for a deal worth €8m plus 20% of a future sale to the Whites.

Estadio Deportivo look at claims made elsewhere, including on social media, that the 21-year-old’s move to Real Betis is close, or even done.

They state: ‘This summer, social media gurus are once again legion, boasting scoops and exclusives usually inherited from others who do work in the news. However, the new trend in the world, partly due to this false competition, is jumping the gun, confirming coaches and players who, at best, are sitting at a negotiating table, much less signing documents or traveling in pursuit of recognition or presentations.’

Estadio say this is happening with the Leeds player, where ‘several journalists and pseudo-media outlets’ have stated Joseph’s arrival at the Spanish club is a done deal.

They insist the actual situation is completely the opposite, and have gathered this information from their sources.

Estadio state there’s a big gap between Leeds and Real Betis when it comes to the Spain U21 international’s valuation, without mentioning figures.

The transfer may go through, but at this moment in time, there’s a disagreement between the two clubs over the transfer fee, and therefore, the operation is nowhere close to being finalised.
