There are claims in the German media Stuttgart Alexandru Maxim turned down a move to Leeds United in the last window because he was happy with his wages in Germany. That doesn’t rule out an exit in the next window, with manager Hannes Wolf not seeming a big fan, and Leeds have been linked again.

Stuttgarter Nachrichten have reported on Maxim’s proposed move to Leeds United in January, after the Championship side held initial talks with his agent. With the attacking midfielder struggling to get games under Wolf there was speculation he could leave the German club.

However, despite Leeds United’s approach, Maxim remained with Stuttgart. The Romania international is one of the highest earners at Stuttgart and it’s clear that the Leeds approach wasn’t enticing enough to make Maxim push for a move.

Leeds United won’t want to overpay for the player, despite Garry Monk being a fan since he was Swansea City manager, but the club would obviously be more attractive if promotion is achieved.
