According to claims in the Spanish media, Valencia forward Álvaro Negredo has been offered to Argentine club San Lorenzo.

There have reports in the British media in recent days that Leeds United are interested in the former Manchester City and Middlesbrough player, dragging up claims from a couple of weeks ago.

Spanish newspaper Marca have today reported San Lorenzo is an option for Negredo, with Valencia looking to offload the Spaniard before the window closes. The attacker looks surplus to requirements at Valencia, and San Lorenzo manager Bernardo Romeo has confirmed Negredo has been offered to his club.

However, it’s been reported Negredo isn’t in rush to make a decision, but a move to Leeds United is likely to be ruled out. The 31-year-old is looking for a club which can still give him football at a high level, and that may not be the case in the Championship with Leeds United.

Turkish champions Besiktas are keen to bring in the player, and they could possibly offer him Champions League football, and a chance to fight for the title next season. Valencia are pushing Negredo to accept a move to Turkey, but as yet he’s unconvinced.

If Leeds United do pull of the transfer it will come as big surprise due to the competition they are likely to face in the coming weeks. It’ll be a big surprise due to Negredo’s high wages, which is the main reason Valencia want to get rid.

Negredo to Leeds United claims originally started as an unreliable rumour in Spain, based entirely upon Victor Orta hiring the player for Middlesbrough.
