The chairman of the players union VVCS has told the Dutch media NEC star Anthony Limbombe may need to file a lawsuit against his club in order to get a transfer. The Leeds United linked attacker is currently refusing to train with NEC, which has resulted in a hefty fine.
Speaking to Voetbal Primeur, Danny Hesp confirmed the young Belgian is defaulting after refusing to train or play with NEC. Hesp said his club can’t force him to join a club after reports he doesn’t want a move to Ligue 1 side Toulouse, and he now believes the only way to solve this situation is for Limbombe to go the arbitration court.
“He will now be defaulting, which is legally refusing to work. The club can’t force him to go somewhere. An arbitration is the established way,” said Hesp on Limbombe’s situation at NEC.
Limbombe hopes to find a new club this summer, with the likes of Leeds United, Club Brugge and Toulouse all keen on the 22-year-old. Both Leeds United and Brugge have recently tabled bids to sign the player, but didn’t meet NEC’s valuation of €3m.
