Leeds United’s Sweden fan branch have hailed Pontus Jansson one of the reasons why Garry Monk has managed to turn things around in the past few weeks. The Championship side yesterday beat Ipswich Town 1-0 to make it four successive wins in all competitions.
Writing in the aftermath of the win over Ipswich the Swedish Leeds United branch said the team’s defence now looks secure after their struggles in recent seasons. They believe the reason for this turn around in fortunes is down to Pontus Jansson becoming a regular in Garry Monks starting eleven, and with the Sweden international in the team they now look resolute.
“Four straight wins after the loss against Huddersfield in the derby and the defence looks suddenly safer than it has for years. Three straight zeros and only one conceded on the back of those four games, thank to Pontus Jansson. Since the Swede came into the team they have been extremely resolute,” said the Leeds United supporters branch on their compatriot.
Jansson joined Leeds United from Serie A side Torino in the last transfer window, and has been a major reason for Leeds United’s recent impressive form. His performances haven’t gone unnoticed in his home country where he’s been described as Leeds United’s latest cult hero.
In Sweden, Leeds United are still seen as the big club they most certainly are, so with Jansson signing up there was always likely to be more coverage.
