Leeds United, Sunderland, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burnley are in the mix to sign Getafe’s Christantus Uche this summer.
Getafe president José Bordalás has insisted bids have to accepted for the striker, to improve their finances. Earlier this week, claims from Spain reported he has a €25m release clause but the La Liga club are willing to let him leave for €20m.
Saturday’s edition of AS reports Uche is the ‘chosen one’ to help the Spanish club improve their finances. His sale is needed for them to register all their players for this season.
Leeds, Sunderland, Wolves and Burnley are named as his interested parties and AS say these four clubs have asked about the 22-year-old.
The newspaper hasn’t specified whether the Premier Legue quartet contacted Getafe, Uche’s representatives or both.
It’s claimed Getafe have valued the Nigeria international at €20m and were expecting to receive offers from the English clubs. However, that didn’t happen as Leeds, Sunderland, Wolves or Burnley haven’t made bids, despite making approaches.
AS report Uche is destined to leave and a radical change in the situation is needed for him to stay. Therefore, his price could drop further to €15m towards the end of the summer window.
Leeds, Sunderland, Wolves, Burnley or another club can take advantage, and that is perhaps why they’ve been playing a waiting game.
