Leeds United striker Rodrigo Moreno is ‘close to leaving’ the club for Saudi Arabia and a move to Al Rayyan.
That’s according to journalist Bruno Andrade, who says the striker is ‘one the verge’ of becoming Leonardo Jardim’s ‘first major reinforcement’ at his new club.
Rodrigo has been linked with a move away from Leeds since they were relegated at the end of this season, with a major overhaul expected at Elland Road because of their return to the Championship.
He is one of several players in the squad that have a relegation clause in their contract, with several reports making it clear that he could be available for as little as €3m.
Clubs in Spain and England have thus been credited with an interest in the 32-year-old, who managed 13 goals and one assists in 31 games in the Premier League last season despite Leeds’ struggles.
It seems, though, he is set to reject the prospect of either staying in England or returning to Spain and will instead join the steady flow of players moving to Saudi Arabia.
Andrade reports that he is ‘close to leaving’ Leeds for Al Rayyan, who have seemingly stepped in and make a bid to secure his signature.
The journalist makes no mention of a fee or even the kind of contract that Rodrigo has been offered, although we can assume the latter is high given the money being offered to other players making the switch in recent weeks.
