Earlier on Thursday, it was reported by the English media that Leeds United have opened talks to sign Ola Solbakken from AS Roma.
It was said the Whites were in contact with his agent, and would find some foreign competition for the 24-year-old.
It turns out that according to Gianluca Di Marzio’s latest information, Leeds are about to miss out on Solbakken.
The journalist writes that Olympiacos are ‘well ahead’ in the race for the winger, and they actually have his preference, as he ‘prioritised’ a move to the Greek side.
The Italian media continues not to give Leeds a mention in this race, and the rumours about their attempt to sign the player really seem to have stayed in the English press.
Solbakken joined Roma as a free agent from Bodo/Glimt back in January. He couldn’t find his place in José Mourinho’s side, though, and that’s why he ended up being heavily linked to a summer exit.
We shall see the formula used by Olympiacos sign him, as reports today claimed the player was valued at £4m by the Serie A side.
