With Lens striker Loïs Openda drawing big attention from European clubs, Leeds United are today added to the race for his signing.
It’s Foot Mercato who feature a story claiming that the 23-year-old became a ‘sensation’ in his first season in France, where he already has 15 goals in Ligue 1.
The report claims that several clubs have been sending scouts to watch Openda, and Leeds are one of them.
The Whites are said to be accompanied by ‘several English clubs’, as well as the likes of AS Monaco, Marseille, Eintracht Frankfurt, Inter Milan and more German and Italian clubs.
It turns out that with Openda having just arrived at Lens following a move from Club Brugge, there’s no big reason for the French side to worry about a sale now, given he has a contract until 2027.
However, they may be interested in negotiating in case a reasonable offer arrives, with Foot Mercato claiming his value ‘fluctuates’ around €30m these days.
It’s not yet known whether Leeds have already taken any extra steps for the signing. At this stage, it really looks like clubs are watching his potential and evaluating how to make their summer attempts.
