Beşiktaş have added Leeds United goalkeeper Lucas Perri to their list of potential targets as they seek out a new goalkeeper.

That’s according to journalist Ertan Süzgün. According to his information, Perri has recently been added to the Turkish side’s list of options.

Beşiktaş have been busy this month with various departures to free up funds for the end of the transfer window. Tammy Abraham, Demir Ege Tıknaz and Rafa Silva have departed for €32m combined while three others have been released on free transfers as well.

One of those was goalkeeper Mert Günok, who has joined Fenerbahçe. Beşiktaş still have three goalkeepers in their squad, but they want a new number one and the hunt is on.

Süzgün now reports that Perri is in the mix. He’s out of favour at Elland Road despite only joining in the summer transfer window. He arrived to be the new number one under Daniel Farke but has spent the last two Premier League games sat on the bench. Before that he had started every game since the end of October.

Leeds United player could be handed opportunity

His situation is less secure than it once was, and now Beşiktaş could offer him a transfer opportunity. Whether he wants to take it, remains to be seen.

The Brazilian appears happy in Leeds, particularly if comments from his agent are anything to go by. He spoke back in November and appeared delighted with Perri’s career trajectory.

“We’re happy with Lucas’s progress. He quickly became an idol in France, playing for Lyon, and now he’s in the best league in the world,” he said.

“I remember that when I talked about Lucas, no one knew him; today he’s in the Premier League. When I talked about [Gabriel] Strefezza, it was the same thing. Today, we have three players who will undoubtedly reach the top.”
