Leeds United are interested in a move for Osasuna striker Chimy Ávila as he continues to impress in La Liga this season.
That’s according to Fichajes, who say they could take the 28-year-old ‘away from Sevilla’, who are another of his suitors.
They explain that despite renewing his contract at the beginning of this year until 2026, there is a chance that the striker could be on the move.
He is back to his old self after two serious injuries, scoring goals and currently sitting just three away from his highest tally in a single season since moving to Spain.
That has ‘sparked interest’ from a number of teams, with Sevilla the most interested but facing competition from Leeds, who ‘could have entered the bidding’ with a ‘big offer under the arm’.
His current contract includes a €30m release clause but it’s believed Leeds are ‘preparing an offer’ of £20m, around €22m, a bid that is considered ‘very generous’ for the 28-year-old.
In the event that Leeds go through with such a bid it’s likely he would move to Elland Road, with only a ‘major surprise’ likely to stop that from happening.
Jesse Marsch’s side are a ‘clear candidate’ for the striker and could be set to take him away from Sevilla, his other main suitor.
