The situation of Rafa Mújica at Real Oviedo doesn’t appear to be improving.

The Leeds United loanee was sent to the La Liga2 side for the season in order to get some minutes under his belt after it was made clear he wouldn’t get them this campaign at Elland Road, but the whole affair has somewhat backfired.

Unable to make a name for himself with the Spanish club, the striker has been pushed to one side with four measly appearances in the league to his name, and a loan cancellation has been widely expected this month.

Despite this, it’s yet to come, and the player has had to remain very professional as he awaits his fate.

Grada3 have something of an update on the Leeds loanee, reporting he was present at Oviedo’s return to training ahead of their Saturday fixture against Albacete.

That’s not news in itself, but they state he and Cédric Teguía, another outcast, ‘are two of the names that are said to leave the team’, and ‘both seem to be waiting for their exit to be completed, although, for the moment, they are training normally with the rest of the group’.

If the rest of the season is anything to go by, then Mújica won’t be expecting to play at the weekend, and it appears he’s simply trying to stay in shape in the hope of switching clubs before the end of the campaign if Leeds can find him something in the coming days.
