For Leeds United and the player himself, it’s nice to see Crysencio Summerville being hyped around the European sport media and beyond, after his performances for the Whites recently.
The Championship obviously doesn’t get as much coverage as other leagues, but Summerville’s success has been covered extensively in the Netherlands and Spain.
Wednesday’s edition of Sport has an article solely dedicated to the Leeds United player, and it’s titled by saying he ‘unleashes madness’ in England.
Fans at Elland Road are said to be ‘overwhelmed by the emergence of a talent who is aiming to become a world star’.
There’s a chunk of repeat praise before Sport end with: ‘He’s a player who cannot be stopped: he has the one for one, top speed, power, scoring ability, he knows how to put together the shot at the right moment… he is almost infallible at 22 years old.’
Inevitably this will all help bring transfer attention and whilst the prospect of that may be annoying for Leeds United, it’s better if Summerville is hyped beyond all reason than not hyped at all.
This kind of praise won’t see clubs ‘discover’ the player but will raise his profile and therefore put the Whites in a stronger position when interest inevitably shows up during the summer.
Promotion to the Premier League would certainly also be an asset in that regard…
