Sunderland are edging towards completing the signing of Leeds United’s Leo Fuhr Hjelde in the winter market, according to a report from Norway.
TV2 journalist Arilas Ould-Saada took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide an update on the 20-year-old that’ll surely please Sunderland fans.
The Leeds United player’s contract at Elland Road lasts until 2025 and the journalist claims Daniel Farke’s side will collect £1-1.5m from his sale to Sunderland.
Ould-Saada adds the 20-year-old is ‘undergoing a medical’ with the Black Cats today.
According to the journalist, the left-back has agreed a four-and-a-half-year deal with Sunderland and will ‘probably sign’ the contract with Michael Beale’s side ‘tonight’.
In other words, Leo Fuhr Hjelde is a few hours away from becoming a new Sunderland player.
Leeds signed the Norway U21 international from Celtic in 2021 and he’s made eight appearances so far, including three from this season.
This impending move to join the Black Cats should see the fullback enjoy regular game time at the Stadium of Light, which he wasn’t able to achieve at Leeds.
