Leeds United loanee Caleb Ekuban has spoken to media after scoring the opening goal against Balikesirspor in the Turkish Cup yesterday.

The Ghanaian striker is currently on loan with the Super Lig side from Leeds United after failing to make an impact in his debut season in England.

Speaking to Fotospor, Ekuban was asked about his difficulties last season with Leeds United after receiving criticism from the Elland Road faithful: “Football is like this, unfortunately. One day you can be somewhere in the sky and then you can hit the ground. I had bad injuries last year. I’ll try to be better this year.”

The 24 year old has been impressing for Trabzonspor since joining from Leeds United last summer and there’s reports in the Turkish media they will be looking to make his move permanent at the end of the season.

It’s reported the Trabzon club can purchase the player outright for €1m, although there have been claims they want to hold talks with Leeds United to get this reduced.

Ekuban is said to be happy in Turkey following his experience with the Championship side last season and he too would like to remain at Trazbonspor. A permanent transfer is approaching, and if player and loan club have their way, he’ll stay where he is.
