Mateo Joseph kicked and screamed his way out of Leeds United, essentially going on strike to be allowed to move to Spain. At the time, Daniel Farke spoke about his frustration with the player, saying he couldn’t be forced to play.

The 22-year-old finally got his wish with a loan move to RCD Mallorca in August. He’s had a mixed time there, only finding the back of the net in one match. That was against Sevilla in October and he scored twice in a crucial win, but hasn’t netted since.

He recently spoke about finding his feet whilst on loan, and a renewed optimism.

A permanent transfer from Leeds United is unlikely, especially if 16th placed Mallorca are relegated. The best chance for the Whites to get a good fee is if Joseph can impress a bigger club in La Liga this season.

Right now, that probably isn’t the case.

Mallorca are a point clear of the relegation zone, and staying up surely has to be the big goal. However, their CEO has suggested it should be taken for granted, as he negotiates bonuses with the squad.

The leaders among Mallorca’s side have been in talks to finalise bonuses for this season. Such agreements are more common at clubs like the Spanish one because base wages are lower.

Alfonso Díaz has instead proposed a serious of bonuses which range from unlikely to delusional. Cadena Ser report the CEO is offering €8m if Mallorca win La Liga, €5m for qualifying for the Champions League and €3m for finishing tenth.

Those are collective bonuses to be shared by the squad.

Daniel Farke last week spoke about expectations being too high at Leeds United, he’ll be thankful he doesn’t work for Alfonso Díaz.
