There’s been a lot said in the Italian media about Weston McKennie, since the US international moved from Juventus to Leeds United in January.
The transfer is initially a loan but can be made permanent via several clauses, and in Italy it’s generally thought that if Leeds go through with a full transfer – at the figures reported – then Juve will have got themselves a brilliant deal.
McKennie didn’t manage to fully cement himself at the Turin club and rumours about a departure had gone back some months. Leeds United, with Jesse Marsch, was the ideal home for him.
Of course, the American manager has gone, but McKennie has a fresh chance to prove himself.
Italian journalist Massimo Brambati used the midfielder as an example when talking about fitness issues at Juve. His comments will give some advice to Leeds over getting the player in top condition.
Blasting quote Brambati as saying: “I said some time ago that McKennie was overweight, this certifies that at Juventus they train at two miles an hour.”
With tougher training at the Premier League club, the 24-year-old should get to his best physical condition.
