Barcelona continue to struggle despite showing Ronald Koeman the door and bringing in club legend Xavi Hernandez.

There was a lot of optimism around the Catalan club when Xavi returned, but results on the pitch, and the increasing realisation that the current squad just isn’t up to it, has seen worries grow.

Defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League saw Barcelona drop down to the Europa League, and whilst the result was expected, the way the loss happened gave more cause for concern.

Doubts are even growing around goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, and that’s seen Leeds United’s Illan Meslier linked with a move to the Camp Nou.

Gerard Romero, a well known pundit who specialises in Barcelona news, has reported, via Planeta Barca, that the Leeds man is one of several options being considered.

Any move would be for the summer, and choosing the Leeds United player would be a big surprise. At only 21-years-of-age he doesn’t have the experience that is likely required at Barcelona, and would cost an amount that the club would surely be reluctant to pay.

With more pressing concerns elsewhere on the pitch, it’s got to be considered unlikely Barcelona would want to pay big bucks for the Frenchman.

Leeds United have no contract worries with the stopper, having extended his deal to June 2026.
