Goalkeeper Lucas Perri is expected in Turin on Thursday to complete his move from Leeds United to Torino, with the two clubs now having an agreement in place.
Last week, we covered claims that the transfer was further along than it appeared. An agreement in principle existed, but Torino were being made to wait by a domino effect involving other goalkeepers.
That wait now appears to be over.
Perri expected for medical on Thursday
Tuttomercatoweb relay information from SportMediaset stating Leeds and Torino have reached an agreement for Lucas Perri.
The Brazilian will join the Serie A club on a season-long loan. Torino will also have an option to make the transfer permanent for €11m (£9.5m).
Perri is expected to arrive in Turin on Thursday, finally bringing an end to what the Italian media have described as a transfer saga.
He will then undergo his medical at the Centro di Medicina dello Sport, located inside Turin’s Stadio Olimpico.
Once those tests are completed, Perri is expected to sign his contract with Torino.
Straight into work at Torino
Things could move particularly quickly from there. Lucas Perri could take part in his first training session with his new teammates as early as Friday, according to the report.
Torino then plan to present him to their supporters on Saturday evening. The Italian club begin their Coppa Italia campaign against Carrarese that night.
SportMediaset also make it clear Perri is being brought in to become Torino’s new No.1.
That’s a significant change from the uncertainty of last week. The basic structure of the transfer was already in place then, but Leeds couldn’t release Perri while their own goalkeeping situation remained unresolved.
James Trafford has since completed his move to Elland Road, removing that problem.
Now the agreement with Torino is in place, the financial details have been revealed and Perri has a timetable for completing his move. Barring a late problem, his Leeds exit should finally be wrapped up on Thursday.
