It’s been confirmed Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson will not be involved in Sweden’s upcoming games.

In recent days it’s been well documented in the Swedish media that Jansson would be a doubt for the games against Russia and Slovakia due to him expecting his first child.

Svenskfotbol report Jansson joined up with his country but has now been replaced by Copenhagen defender Sotirios Papagiannopoulos. Speaking about his inclusion the 28 year old said: “It feels great to be here and I hope I get the chance to come here today.”

Earlier this week, Sweden coach Janne Andersson gave hints the Leeds United player wouldn’t be available to him after he confirmed Albin Ekdal also wouldn’t be involved in the game against Russia due to becoming a father himself.

Jansson pulling out of the squad ends his two game run in Andersson’s team after the Leeds United star started last month’s clashes against Austria and Turkey.

Since Andersson became the Sweden coach just over 12 months ago, the 27 year old has been a regular in his squads.
