Diego Llorente last played for Spain in June 2022, starting and finishing two games in the UEFA Nations League.
The 30-year-old spent much of his time with Leeds United being valued at around €20m, but that’s dropped to the point they may be lucky to get €5m for the player.
A lot of it seems through perception. He played 42 matches for AS Roma last season, and was even linked with PSG in the January transfer window, but now it’s Real Betis who look to be closing in on a bargain deal.
Roma would prefer a loan rather than a permanent purchase, and Betis are looking at another bargain Leeds United deal after securing Marc Roca last week.
Spanish newspaper AS publish an article on Monday afternoon which states Llorente is the ‘best positioned’ candidate as Betis look to sign two central defenders.
His experience is seen as a plus, as is the belief he could be secured pretty quickly on a permanent transfer. Now it’s over to Leeds United to see just how far they’ll go.
