On Wednesday, Deich Stube reported Maximilian Wöber’s sale to Werder Bremen is ‘imminent’.
They also stated the latter will pay Leeds United €4m, given the defender’s valuation has dropped after his injury issues.
Bild also report the player’s arrival at the German club is ‘imminent’ and he’ll be their first summer signing.
Werder Bremen will secure the defender a contract lasting until 2029. Medical tests and contract signing are pending for the Austria international to leave Leeds United.
Deich Stube reported Werder Bremen are paying €4m for the 27-year-old, but Bild now claim the fee is in fact less than that. They state it’s ‘between €2m and €3m’.
In other words, the Premier League newcomers are getting even less than what was reported earlier, should the German newspaper be correct.
Wöber spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Borussia Mönchengladbach, and they were keen on buying last summer. This was repeatedly reported in Germany, but the move didn’t materialise because Gladach refused to meet Leeds’ demand of €10-12m.
A year later, Leeds are now reportedly selling Wöber to Werder Bremen for €2-3m.
