Earlier on Monday, the news broke that Leeds United had agreed to let Diego Llorente leave and sign for AS Roma.
The deal is said to be a loan with an option to buy, and the player is expected to become the fifth centre-back in José Mourinho’s squad.
An earlier article stated the Leeds defender was expected to land in Italy around 5.30pm local time, and that’s exactly what he’s done, as Gazzetta dello Sport claim he arrived at 5.36pm.
They also add a few details, claiming Roma are paying Leeds €750k for the loan, but don’t mention how much will be needed to make the move permanent.
On top of all this, Francesco Iucca, a journalist for Calciomercato.it, took to Twitter and posted a video of the 29-year-old arriving in Italy.
He was spotted at Fiumicino airport, and is presented by the Italian reporter as the ‘new defender of AS Roma’, although that has yet to be made official by either club.
Still, the fact the Leeds man is currently in Italy means the transfer is well on its way, and the Spaniard will be hoping to get a bit more time under Mourinho than he got during the first half of the season with Jesse Marsch in charge at Elland Road.
