Leeds United were showing an interest in Palermo forward Simon Makienok according to claims in Italy. The Denmark international spent last season on loan with Charlton Athletic.
TMW claim Leeds United owner Massimo Cellinio is keen to bring in a forward this summer for new manager Garry Monk, and Makienok was an option.
With the announcement last month that Mirco Antenucci would be leaving Leeds United when his contract expires, Makienok was an option open to the Championship side.
Makienok played 35 league games for Charlton Athletic last season, scoring 5 goals. The initial deal was that Charlton Athletic would take the player on a season long loan, and then exercise their right of redemption.
The South London club did contemplate making the deal permanent in January, but didn’t go through with this.
However, in the past 48 hours Preston North End have agreed to sign the Dane on a season’s loan.
