Leeds United defender Giuseppe Bellusci is out on his own as the player with the most yellow cards in Serie A, following this weekend’s round of matches. The 27-year-old is currently on a season long loan spell with Empoli.

Bellusci picked up another yellow card against Torino on Sunday, which now puts him on ten league bookings for the season. This means the Leeds United loanee now has one caution more than Fiorentina’s Nenad Tomovic after the opening twenty-three games.

Due to his booking at the weekend Bellusci will miss Empoli’s next game against Inter Milan, which will be his second ban of the season.

However, Bellusci doesn’t top the overall disciplinary list because the defender has yet to be shown a red card in this campaign. This honour goes to Bologna’s Daniele Gastaldello who has been sent off twice, along with his seven yellow cards.

Despite his disciplinary woes Empoli will still be keen to make his transfer from Leeds United permanent. It seems the player no longer has a future at Leeds United given the criticism he’s aimed at the club since his departure in the summer, and with Pontus Jansson now established in Garry Monk’s team it’s very unlikely he will return.
