Leeds United are running the risk of torpedoing their sale of Jack Harrison to Fiorentina with their latest demands.

That’s according to Fiorentina News. They cover the situation and Leeds’ apparent attempts to change a pre-agreed deal.

For context, Harrison was seemingly on the verge of completing a loan move to Fiorentina. All was going well and there was a general confidence it would be done this week. A report today stated the deal had been done in rapid fashion. It was set to be a loan with an option to buy.

Everyone seemed happy and former Leeds men like Gaetano Berardi were even excited for him. Now that appears to be in danger.

Fiorentina News explain that the terms of the deal were clear. It would be a loan with an option to buy and the possibility of a conditional obligation. Now, though, various factors are emerging that could disrupt the negotiations and the deal.

According to Sport Italia journalist Gianluigi Longari, Leeds have now started demanding more stringent conditions. They want Fiorentina to pay £15m for Harrison. And they now want that to be locked into an obligation.

Leeds United demand scares Fiorentina

So, to be clear, Leeds have seemingly decided to turn the deal from a loan with an option to a loan with an obligation. They want that obligation to be set at £15m. It is presumably that fee which has caused Fiorentina to now pause.

We would presume that’s not a serious demand from Leeds United and they’re just using it as a negotiating position. They probably do not seriously consider Harrison to be worth £15m, given his current status in the squad and his unsuccessful time at Everton before that

If that is what they’re doing, they need to be careful. Such a stance has already seemingly got Fiorentina, who have a reasonable chance of relegation, scared.
