Ian Poveda joined Manchester City’s academy from Brentford in 2016 and went on to make his first team debut in his side’s 1-0 victory over Burton Albion in the EFL Cup semi-final in January 2019.

With his contract expiring after this season, the 19-year-old has been attracting interest from Leeds United, Celtic and Torino.

On January 16th, we carried a report from Tuttosport, who explained Marcelo Bielsa has personally telephoned the winger to convince him to move to Elland Road.

TuttoMercatoWeb now brings an update on the Turin club’s offer for the teenager.

It’s claimed Torino have submitted their first proposal for Poveda, but Pep Guardiola’s side have turned it down.

The website doesn’t provide any figures, but suggests the Italian side are expected to return with an improved offer in the ‘next few hours’.

TMW’s report comes as a positive news for Leeds, who can try and push themselves between Torino and the player.

Earlier reports made it clear Manchester City would like a deal which gives them some control over the player’s future, which could be where things have faltered with the Turin club.
