The Argentine media today brings a few extra details on Leeds United’s interest in having Marcelo Gallardo as their new manager.
A report from Ariel Senosiain (via German Garcia Grova) claims the Whites indeed want the 47-year-old as their boss.
It’s said that Leeds made contact with Gallardo ‘a few weeks ago’, and the coach asked for time to ‘analyse the offer’.
It pretty much sounds like the manager hasn’t given the Whites a response yet, and that’s why he remains as one of the options on the table.
Leeds United interest in Gallardo had already been reported by the English media, who claimed he’s one of their favourite options for the job, so it’s interesting to see that possibility being confirmed in Argentina.
The Argentine coach has been unemployed since leaving River Plate in December 2022. In his nearly nine years at the club, he won two Copa Libertadores and one Copa Sudamericana.
As he rests before getting another job, he’s been linked to several clubs, and even managed Riyadh Season’s side in an exhibition match against Paris Saint Germain this year.
