Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has explained big dreams from Whites fans provides motivation.

Farke arrived at Elland Road in July 2023, when Leeds United were in the Championship. They lost the play-off final to Southampton in his first season. The German then guided their return to the top flight by winning the Championship last season.

Prior to joining Leeds, he spent a year at Borussia Mönchengladbach. Rheinische Post say Farke wasn’t able to ‘stop the downward trend’ at the Bundesliga club.

The Leeds United boss has spoken to 11Freunde about his time at his former club, and similarities with Elland Road. Rheinische Post have relayed his comments.

It was put to the 48-year-old that the Premier League club’s supporters are ‘already dreaming’ of Europe in the future. The point was to compare pressure between the two clubs.

“Dealing with that takes an incredible amount of strength and energy, but this emotion is exactly what you’re looking for as a player and coach. You want to work where it counts,” Farke replied.

Leeds United have two wins from eight league matches this season. They are currently 16th in the table, trailing fifth placed Chelsea by six points.

Europe looks a long way off for Leeds United, but there’s no harm in big aims.
