Leeds United defender Giuseppe Bellusci has told the Italian media his time at Elland Road was difficult. The 27-year-old is currently on loan with Serie A side Empoli after joining up with the Tuscan club in the summer.
Itasportpress have reported on comments Bellusci made in a press conference in which he revealed the fans were passionate but it was difficult because it meant everything was magnified. The defender believes being a foreigner at Leeds United didn’t help because they were singled out when there was trouble within the club.
“In England it was a difficult period. The stadium is historic and the fans are incredible, but they magnify things. We paid for the fact that we were strangers, I would not say it, but that’s what transpires: I do not dispute it, but when there was trouble the Italians were blamed,” said Bellusci.
It now seems Bellusci has settled since returning to Italy this summer after the Leeds United player had to watch from the bench for Empoli’s opening two competitive games this season.
Empoli have a right of redemption on Bellusci, and if he continues this way they could make his move permanent next summer.
