Earlier on Tuesday, Gianluca Di Marzio explained Leeds United are interested in signing Juventus’ Weston McKennie.
It was also stated the Whites have made first contacts with the Serie A side and the two sides are expected to continue talks to try to find an agreement in the next few days.
Sky Italia journalist Luca Marchetti appeared as a guest on TMW Radio show, L’Editoriale. One of the questions he was asked was whether the possibility of the USMNT midfielder ending at Leeds is a concrete hypothesis.
Responding to that, the journalist said: “Yes, it is an option that is being evaluated. The first thing we need to understand what kind of offer Leeds can present…”
The Premier League side are co-owned by an American entity, while they also have two of McKennie’s compatriots, Brenden Aaronson and Tyler Adams. In addition to this, there is American manager Jesse Marsch at Leeds.
Marchetti points this out and further mentions the Turin club’s current position on the possibility of offloading the former Schalke man in the current window.
“We will have to see what Juventus will do, because the American is not a phenomenon but he is certainly a useful element who can play in various roles and who is giving Allegri a hand,” Marchetti explains.
With a week left in the January window, it needs to be seen whether Leeds will make an offer than can convince Juventus to consider selling McKennie.
