Burnley and Leeds United will need to work hard to ‘convince’ AC Milan and Charles de Ketelaere into a transfer this summer.
That’s according to Le Soir, who say it would take ‘at least €35m’ before the Italian club consider selling the youngster.
He arrived at Milan in a €32m deal from Club Brugge last summer after shining with the Belgian side, scoring 25 and assisting 20 in 120 games for them.
That saw him linked with a number of clubs around Europe, including Leeds, who pushed hard to secure his signature but were ultimately disappointed as he chose to join Milan instead.
His first year in Serie A has not proven to be a happy one, though, with him managing just one assist in 30 games to date and largely being labelled as a flop.
Le Soir cover that again, stating that despite Stefano Pioli recently overhauling the team’s forward line, De Ketelaere again found himself on the bench. He’s not really giving the Belgian a chance and both he and the club seemed to have ‘resigned themselves’ to things not improving.
They would likely be happy to sell if there was enough interest but unless Leeds, or Burnley, who are also interested in the player, can ‘convince’ the player and Milan that won’t be happening.
Both sides would have to convince Milan to sell, and that would require a bid of at least €35m, while they would also need to somehow convince the player to leave for England.
In other words, neither party seems that interested in the switch and both Leeds and Burnley might be better off spending their efforts on other targets.
