Chelsea are considering a move for Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville this summer but could face competition from Stade Rennais.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who report that an ‘English source’ has told them Chelsea are interested in the Dutch forward.
Summerville has been heavily linked with a move away from Elland Road this summer after an impressive season for Leeds in the Championship last season that saw him bag 21 goals and 10 assists in 49 games in all competitions.
Leeds apparent need for sales to help balance the books has also increased speculation, with him very much the most saleable asset in their squad.
Foot Mercato now report that Stade Rennais have turned their attention to the Leeds star as they get set to lose Désiré Doué.
They see him as a potential replacement for Doué should he go to PSG, with his ‘explosive profile’ leaving everyone convinced. Indeed, FM go as far as to liken his style to Kylian Mbappé’s.
The French club are yet to make a concrete approach to Leeds, but they may want to soon as they’re not the only interested party.
According to their English source, four Premier League clubs are following Summerville with interest and Chelsea are among them.
They want to sign ‘an impactful left-handed winger’ and the Leeds man would fit the bill on that front. Their interest is seen as a warning for Stade Rennais.
If they want to sign Summerville they may want to move quickly and will have to spend big, with him currently valued at €20m, a figure they won’t struggle with if they sell Doué.
