Having signed Raphinha from Rennes in 2020, Leeds United sold him to Barcelona for a reported fee of €58m this summer.
Sales have left the Whites with resources to reshape their squad and they could again look at the Ligue 1 side to sign a new attacker.
Leeds, West Ham United and Liverpool are in the mix for Rennes’ Martin Terrier, according to L’Equipe.
He finished the last campaign with 21 goals and three assists from 37 matches, and his fine displays have caught attention from the Premier League. The Hammers and Jesse Marsch’s side have the forward on top of their wanted lists and he is their ‘priority’ target.
David Moyes’ side have already done business with the French club as they took Nayef Aguerd earlier in the window.
West Ham recruitment director Rob Newman made trips to France to watch the defender and Terrier in action last term. His positive feedback saw the London club place the attacker on top of their target list.
Meanwhile, the relationship between Leeds sporting director Victor Orta and Rennes chief Florian Maurice has been cordial since the Raphinha operation in 2020.
L’Equipe state Marsch’s side ‘should very soon take action’ in Terrier’s case. It needs to be seen whether they are ready to meet the Ligue 1 side’s demands for the 25-year-old.
Rennes have officially said the Frenchman is not for sale and if they were to change their stance, then there has to be an offer of at least €40m.
Liverpool are also in the mix as Terrier is a target if the Reds were to sell Roberto Firmino this summer.
