Following the news that Leeds United have agreed to let Diego Llorente go to AS Roma on loan until the end of the season, more information is filtering out.
Most of it is coming out of Italy, with Gianluca Di Marzio providing the latest on an exciting end to the window for the Elland Road side that also involves Weston McKennie arriving from Juventus.
It’s explained the Leeds player ‘will arrive on loan with a view to buy’, with José Mourinho asking for the deal since he knows him well from their time together at Real Madrid all those years ago.
Taking to his website, the journalist then adds that Llorente’s arrival in Rome is ‘expected for 5.30pm’ local time at the Fiumicino airport.
While he is capable of playing in front of the defence, it’s explained that the Leeds player ‘will be the new fifth defender’ at Roma, where he will have to compete with the likes of Marash Kumbulla, Gianluca Mancini, Chris Smalling and Roger Ibañez for a starting spot.
The last three are the starters, while the Albania international is the fourth in the pecking order, with Llorente arriving to provide extra competition and cover, with Mourinho employing a three at the back formation these days.
