Most updates we’ve been seeing regarding Leeds United’s chase for Azzedine Ounahi come from the Italian media.
That’s because Napoli are very interested in him, and with their reports, there’s always a mention to the other clubs who are competing for the signing.
This was the case on Wednesday morning, when newspaper Tuttosport featured a story claiming Angers want to ‘unleash an auction’ for this sale, as the Serie A side are still to meet the demands for the transfer.
Now as RAI journalist Ciro Venerato makes some comments on this pursuit, he claims that even though the player approves the transfer to Napoli, there’s no positive answer from the French side. That’s what has been giving Leeds and others a chance to win the competition.
“However, there is no definitive yes, indeed the proposals from the Premier League, with Leeds and Leicester, and from the Bundesliga, with that of Leipzig, will also be listened to,” said Venerato (via Calcio Napoli 24).
Venerato also points out the ‘long distance’ between Napoli’s offer and Angers’ demand. It’s said the Serie A side don’t want to spend over €15m, including bonuses, while the French club’s request is of at least €25m.
So in case Leeds United are really that interested in the signing, it wouldn’t take a lot to win that financial battle. The problem seems to be the player’s wish to move to Napoli.
