Leeds United have taken the lead for the signing of Angers star Azzedine Ounahi, according to claims from Italy.

It’s journalist Ciro Venerato who, always covering Napoli’s pursuit of the Angers star, brings some updates on Rai.

The market expert now claims Leeds have placed the best offer for the 22-year-old so far, and managed to outbid the Serie A side in that battle.

“As regards the Napoli transfer market, we can say that Leeds are in pole position for the Moroccan Azzedine Ounahi,” said Ciro Venerato on Rai (via Area Napoli).

“The English have offered €25m to Angers and €2.5m to the player, higher figures than those offered by Napoli which had stopped at €1.5m.”

With the Italian media giving big coverage to Napoli’s interest in Ounahi, they’ve always been pointing out that the Serie A side are struggling to meet Angers’ demands, only willing to pay €15m for the signing.

Now with this update saying Leeds’ offer isn’t only better for Angers, but also for the player, then it really sounds like the Whites are ahead, at least in financial terms.

Previous reports had even claimed that Ounahi had already approved a move to Napoli, but judging by this last update, it seems the Whites are working hard to make him change his mind and get the signing done.
