Leeds United have been dragged into the picture when it comes to the race for AS Roma’s Nicolò Zaniolo in the winter market, joining Newcastle United as well as many others in the queue.

The forward has less than 18 months left on his contract and no progress has been made with the Serie A side over the renewal.

Therefore, it is ‘possible’ for Roma to sell him this month.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who state the 23-year-old could move to England this month, where both Leeds and Newcastle are in the mix.

It’s claimed Jesse Marsch’s side and the Magpies have carried out enquiries for the player, even if they are said to be ‘less popular destinations’.

The two Premier League clubs would be encouraged to know the Giallorossi have already set the price around €35-40m to sell him in January.

For now, Leeds and Newcastle have only carried out enquiries, but even if one or both English clubs decides to submit an offer of at least €35m, a deal is unlikely to be carried out because the Italy international doesn’t favour joining the Whites or Eddie Howe’s side.

From England, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are also named as Zaniolo’s suitors.
