Still looking for a new striker, Leeds United were working on trying to sign Arnaud Kalimuendo from Paris Saint-Germain.

Jesse Marsch’s side were said to be the most active club for several weeks to sign him and had made an attractive offer for the forward, but the player still needed convincing about moving to Elland Road.

It all went a bit quiet after that, and we now know why, as Rennes have overtaken everyone and are set to beat Leeds to the youngster’s signing.

L’Equipe are the ones reporting it, claiming that despite being ‘at the heart of talks between Paris Saint-Germain and three clubs (Leeds, Nice and Rennes)’, the player ‘will head to Brittany’.

Over the past few hours, Rennes and PSG were ‘very close to finalising their agreement for an amount estimated at €25m, bonuses included’.

Not only that, but the Ligue 1 champions are also set to earn a bit more from a percentage of a future sale.

As for Leeds, it seems they will now have to look elsewhere to find there man, if they hadn’t started doing so already.
