Leeds United defender Maximilian Wöber is set to miss Austria’s clash with Estonia on Monday after limping out of the clash with Azerbaijan.
That’s according to Heute, who say that Ralf Rangnick will have to ‘do without’ the Leeds star after he was injured in the 4-1 win yesterday.
They explain that Wöber had to be substituted out of that game after half an hour and was replaced by Stefan Posch for the remainder of the game.
Now there is a diagnosis of the injury, with it confirmed that the centre back has sustained a muscle injury on the back of his left thigh.
He’s now set to return to Leeds on Sunday, with a statement from the ÖFB stating that he will leave the team quarters in Windischgarsten before returning to Elland Road.
The newspaper makes no mention of the extent of Wöber’s injury but the fact he has been pulled out of the squad and sent back to Leeds should be enough to cause concern at this point.
Losing him would be a major blow to the Whites in the coming weeks given he has been a regular for the club since his arrival in the January transfer window.
The hope is that it is just a minor injury and he is not out for an extended spell of time, with Javi Gracia needing everyone fit and firing if they are to avoid relegation this season.
